Empower you to fortify your family and live abundantly through the mastery of your money

Education and Training

Learning about and teaching the best ways to manage money are my passion. This passion began in my childhood as I received my most impactful training during the first 17 years of my life. My father, a UPS driver and entrepreneur, taught me and my five siblings–through example and “man-to-man” talks–to creatively generate income and to wisely manage money. He taught me the importance of tracking your money and the power of awareness; to understand the power of compound interest and the value of time as money; and to see work as a blessing and a joy. He even gave me my first job: hunting and counting nightcrawlers for fishermen. My mother, a home-economist, showed me how to bring huge financial value to the home, be resourceful, and live with contentment. She brought life to the adage, “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.” Old clothes made new quilts and leftover rice made great pancakes . . .maybe just edible pancakes. Both of my parents were examples of generosity in all stages.

I served a church mission in Argentina for 1.5 years where I received excellent training and experience to become an effective teacher and compassionate listener. I continue to receive training and serve as a Sunday School teacher to any age group as needed, and I facilitate my church’s local Financial Self-Reliance groups as needed. Homeschooling 2-4 kids for 10+ years has also refined my teaching skills. “If you can’t explain it simply, then you don’t understand it well enough.” — Einstein.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from Utah State University–debt-free–in Family, Consumer, and Human Development with an emphasis in Family Finance. I did an internship with LDS Employment Services and a financial counseling practicum at the USU Marriage and Financial Counseling HUD House in Logan, Utah. I have worked with Head Start programs, domestic violence shelters, and churches to educate and empower those they serve. I completed the Ramsey Financial Coaching Master Training and was a Ramsey Preferred Coach the first couple years of my coaching business. I am a *YNAB Certified Budget Coach.

I actively seek continued learning from successful professionals, and I am a junkie for TedTalks, podcasts, seminars, and audiobooks.

Life has been my true qualifier. Due to the extreme demands of my husband’s pursuit to become a trauma surgeon and a soldier, I decided to be a stay-at-home/homeschool-mom of four kids while running the household on a VERY tight budget–$2-3k BEFORE tithing and insurance. I was GREAT at budgeting and frugality, but I was held back by an intense scarcity mindset and a life-time of poor boundaries. The first decade of marriage was dark and complicated for me until I couldn’t/wouldn’t live with status quo anymore and began a huge “personal revolution.” I spent two years facing demons, learning how to maintain healthy boundaries, and changing my toxic patterns with money, marriage, family, and church. It was then that I finally felt able to step back into the world as a financial coach. I now have the marriage of my dreams, a robust toolbox, and a more powerful perspective to empower my clients in breaking free from their shame and toxic money patterns so they too can create and live in abundance.

I am passionate about helping couples find unity in how they manage money and life. My husband was raised in a very different financial and social climate than I was, and it has been an adventure to create our own financial and social methodology. It has also taken a lifetime to blend his dreams of surgery and farming with my dreams of back-packing across the globe and becoming a millionaire before age 40. Our pursuits to make and save money could certainly fill a book–maybe I will write one someday–but I can say we learned/confirmed together that “good debt” sure doesn’t feel good, a scarcity mindset is debilitating, healthy boundaries make the difference between an abundant life and hell, and when you can trust each other and appreciate your differences, you are explosive together.

Life’s challenges have refined me as a woman and as a coach. Wrestling through times that felt intent on breaking me has magnified my empathy for other people’s pains and shames, and left me in awe of human resiliency, resourcefulness, and our ability to supersede anything. Taming my intense DIY spirit to learn the practice of collaboration with wise people has created a synergy of liberation and joy that is truly miraculous. I love my work, and I am so honored to pay forward the wisdom and skills I have gleaned from so many gifted and loving people. It is my mission to empower you to fortify your family and live abundantly through the mastery of your money.

With that all said, what can I help you accomplish today?
